There will be no 2020 art fair season for me.  While this fact is disappointing, it is certainly not unexpected.  The health and safety of our communities should be our first priority.  Large gatherings, exactly like art fairs, don’t make any sense with Covid-19 on the loose.

I consider myself to be very fortunate.  I create art because I love the process and find joy in exercising the creative portion of my brain.  I participate in art fairs because I love interacting with customers.  Our conversations have resulted in terrific new design ideas, fun commission pieces and have encouraged me to continue creating.

I am very thankful.

However, there are artists who attend art fairs every summer who sell art as their sole source of income.  These artists are in something of a pickle right now.  Please, if you would normally attend an art fair and would purchase a piece of art or two, consider doing one of the following instead:

  • Buy artwork directly from an artist online
  • Set up a commission with your favorite artist
  • Participate in an online art class
  • Provide artists with good reviews and share them on social networks

Anything you can do to support the arts in these trying times would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to hit the art fair circuit next year when Covid-19 is under control….with luck.  Until then, support the arts, love your neighbors and mask up, my peeps!
